Ethel Osag, 98, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison.
Ethel was born in Teglas, Hungary on October 3, 1922. She resided in Carteret for many years where she met the love of her life John Osag, whom she married in 1946. They moved to Sewaren in 1951 where she lived for 60 years. She was a communicant of St Anthony of Padua Church in Port Reading, where she was formerly a member of the Altar Rosary Society as well as the Sewaren/Port Reading Senior Citizens Club.
Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 2003, her parents John and Elizabeth Bodak and her brother Steven Bodak.
Ethel is survived by her daughters Arlene Pedersen and her husband Thomas of Edison and Karen Brenner of Port Reading; three cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Brogan and her husband James, Thomas Pedersen, and Laura Brenner and her husband Jonathan Sternesky; three great-granddaughters, Grace and Caroline Brogan and Quinn Sternesky. Ethel is also survived by her dear brother James Bodak of Lakewood, and several nieces and nephews.
Ethel loved to cook her Hungarian specialties, travel with the Senior Citizens Club and play cards with the girls. She was a remarkable Mom, Grandma and "Gi-Gi" who was well loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 12:00 pm from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street in Woodbridge. A Liturgy will follow at 12:30pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Port Reading. Interment at St. James Cemetery will be private for the family. Visitation will be on Thursday morning beginning at 11:00am at the funeral home.
