Obituary

Emil D. Ameiorsano passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Brighton Gardens of Edison. He was 87 years old.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Newark before moving to the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township 55 years ago.

Mr. Ameiorsano was employed by Burry Biscuit Company in Elizabeth for 46 years before his retirement in 1994; and was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, where he was also a bingo volunteer; and was a member of Saint Andrew Council 5088, Knights of Columbus, Woodbridge Democratic Club, Woodbridge Italian American Club, Golden Circle, Avenel Seniors and Evergreen Senior Citizens, where he instructed small engine repair.

Emil was an avid bowler and enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City, playing cards with friends and time spent on the Delaware River.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Diane Ameiorsano Urso, in 2014.

Surviving are his daughters, Cheryl Russomanno of Edison, Lisa Perez of Manahawkin and Kim Kirk of Avenel; sisters, Maryann Haynes of Colonia and Donna Sawczak of Schuykill Haven, PA; brothers, Robert Ameiorsano of Avenel, Jude Ameiorsano of Long Island, NY and William Ameiorsano of Port Saint Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Dawn Santana, Joseph D. Perez, Jaclyn Russomanno, Alivia Kirk and Heather Kirk; and great grandson, Dominic Chicarilla.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:15 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Cremation will be private. Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org), 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Mr. Ameiorsano's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
