Elizabeth A. Hochfelder, known to family and friends as Betty, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Tennessee. Betty lived in Carteret and Woodbridge for more than 60 years before moving to Dandridge, TN in 2018 to live with her daughter. Betty was a parishioner of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Newport, TN and served as a lector at Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords.  She also attended St. James Church in Woodbridge where she was a lector at weekday Masses.

Betty had a long career as Executive Secretary for the Vice-President of Public Affairs at Supermarkets General Corporation in Woodbridge. She also worked at Sinclair Koppers, Port Reading.  She was very active in the Carteret Business and Professional Women's Club and loved to travel with the friends she made there.

Betty was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Lynch in 2016 and her siblings, Eleanor Hansen, Mary Hegedus, Elmer Horvath, Rose Marshalek and Frank Kedves. She is survived by her daughter, Janis (Lynch) McDougall of Dandridge, TN; her daughter-in-law, Ethel Lynch of Carteret; her grandchildren, Kelly (Lynch) Viands (Paul), Kathleen Lynch and Kevin Lynch; her great-grandchildren, Genevieve Viands and Abigail Viands as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty will be sadly missed by family and friends, and her caregivers at the Jefferson County Nursing Home in Tennessee.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and on Monday, November 6, 2023 beginning at 9AM at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM Monday, November 6 from the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge. Entombment will follow at St. James Chapel Mausoleum, Ida Way, Woodbridge.
