Eleanor Mary Pariso Englert, 94, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home in Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls.

Eleanor was born in Newark, NJ on May 29, 1922 to the late James Pariso and Frieda Diesem Pariso. Her mother passed away when Eleanor was 2 years old and her father married Lucy Galante, who lovingly raised Eleanor as her own. She married John Englert on October 19, 1946 and soon afterward moved to Avenel, NJ where they raised their three sons, James, John Jr. and Jeffrey.

Eleanor was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel, teaching Sunday school, serving as a Deacon, working in the food pantry and serving as President of the United Presbyterian Women. Eleanor was also a 25 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Avenel chapter of the VFW. Eleanor had many jobs over the years and retired in 1985 from General Dynamics in Avenel. She and her husband John then moved to their beach house in Lavalette to enjoy their retirement.

She became very active at the Faith Lutheran Church there until they moved to Seabrook Village in 2004. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a tireless worker, generous to a fault and very devoted to her family. Eleanor was predeceased by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joseph Jerome, her daughter-in-law Judy Englert and her brother-in-law Norman Possiel.

Eleanor is survived by her husband of 70 years, John W. Englert Sr., her three sons, James, of Avenel, John Jr. and his wife, Dawn of Edison and Jeffrey and his wife Susanna of Altoona, Pa.; four grandchildren, David Englert of Avenel, Kristy Battito and her husband Anthony of Brick, Kevin Englert and his wife Irene of Dover, Kerry Rittenour and her husband Bradley of Clarksville, TN and three great-grandchildren, Mariana, Sebastian and Christopher of Dover. She is also survived by three warm and wonderful sisters, Pauline Possiel, Marilyn Giordano and her husband Anthony, all of Tinton Falls and Ann Benedek and her husband Charles of Morristown and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many faithful and devoted friends. Hers was a life well lived. Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Costello Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel St., Avenel, NJ on Sunday, December 4th from 2-4 PM. Interment will be private.
