Eileen E. Eppel passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at her home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. She was 76 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, she has resided in Avenel for the past 55 years.

Mrs. Eppel was employed with Stern's and Macy's department stores in Woodbridge Center for 35 years before retiring in 2007.

She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

She was predeceased by her husband, John K. Eppel, Sr., in 2003; and by her parents, Elizabeth and James Donovan.

Surviving are her children, Karolyn Nilsson of Avenel and John K. Eppel, Jr. and his wife, Maryann, of Avenel; sister, Kay Prasek, of Westfield; brother, Jim Donovan, of Harmony; grandchildren, Gary, Stacy, David, Matthew, Jena and Andrew; and great grandchildren, Gary III and Summer.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Hazel Wood Cemetery, Clark. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
