Ed McCabe, Sr. of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at The New Jersey Veterans Home at Menlo Park.  He was 101 years old.

Born in Newark, he resided in Metuchen for most of his life before moving to Avenel in 2007.

Mr. McCabe was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II; and received the European-African-Middlesex Eastern Service Medal.

He was employed as a Scheduler for Ampco-Pittsburgh in Newark for 25 years before retiring in 1983.

He was a communicant of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

He was predeceased by his wives, Mildred, in 1992 and Beatrice, in 2007; daughter, Maureen McCabe, in 1972; parents, Frank and Gertrude Sweeny McCabe; and brother, Frank McCabe.

He is survived by his children, Kevin McCabe and his wife, Anja, of Plainsboro, Edmund McCabe, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Woodbridge, Shawn McCabe and his wife, Sarah, of Brick and Lisa Riggs and her husband, Larry, of Mill Spring, N.C.; and grandchildren, Colleen, Shannon and her husband, Patrick, Chay, Dara, Emily and Brynn.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
