Dorothy Ruyak Pelzman aged 87, entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2021 at her home in the Avenel Section of Woodbridge Township.
She was born in Yonkers, NY in 1934 to Anthony and Anna Fenyo Ruyak and moved to Woodbridge Township in 1940. She attended Woodbridge schools and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1952. She loved to learn and took courses at Middlesex County College and Rutgers University.
Before her marriage to Frank Pelzman in 1957 she was employed at the Hess Oil Company. After raising her children, she was employed by the Woodbridge Township School District, retiring in 1983.
Dorothy was a member or volunteer in numerous civic, social, educational, religious and political organizations throughout her lifetime. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting, sewing, crocheting, interior decorating and cooking, but the loves of her life were her husband, Frank, who predeceased her in 2006, and her three children and seven grandchildren. She always said "the best job in the world is being a wife and a mother."
Besides her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by her parents, sister, Fritizi Ur, and brothers-in-law Bob Ur and George Sawicki
Dorothy is survived by her son, Frank, of Avenel; daughters, Anne Longenhagen and her husband, Frank, of Colonia and Patti Mulrooney and her husband, Jim, of Avenel; sister, Terry Sawicki, of Jim Thorpe, PA; and grandchildren, Christine Lindner, Elizabeth Longenhagen and Jimmy, Kayla, Jennifer, Casey and Kelli Mulrooney.
A Mass of Resurrection in Dorothy's memory will be held on Wednesday September 22, 2021 at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 244 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001 followed by entombment at Saint Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. A visitation for friends and family will take place at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street Avenel, NJ 07001 on Tuesday September 21, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
