Dorothy E. Mitch passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at her home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. She was 90 years old.

Born on September 15, 1931 in Newark, NJ to the late Stella and Peter Herka, she has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township since 1959.

Mrs. Mitch was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; was past president of the Woodbridge Widow and Widowers Club;  She was an avid bowler, loved working in her flower garden,  traveling with her sister, the Jersey shore, and visits by her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Albert R. Mitch, Jr., in 1982; and granddaughter, Jessica DiDario, in 2010.

Surviving are her children, Donna Maiorana and her husband, Joseph, of Sewaren, Denise Higgins and her husband, William, of Colonia, Michele DiDario and her husband, Mark, of Lighthouse Point, FL, Al Mitch and his wife, Linda, of Avenel and John M. Mitch and his wife, Laura, of Avenel; sister, Terry "Cookie" Fryer, of Country Lakes Estates; brother, Robert Herka, of Edison; grandchildren, Mark DiDario, Ryan Mitch, Jenna Mitch, Laura Higgins, Kristen Reilley, Kelly Mitch, Tommy Mitch, Kara Mitch, Joseph Maiorana, Danielle Maiorana and Daria Maiorana; great grandchildren, Luigi and Joseph; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

In lieu of flowers contributions to either the Avenel Fire Company Community Fund for the Avenel Christmas tree and menorah lighting program 346 Avenel Street Avenel, NJ 07001 or, the Woodbridge Animal Shelter 195 Woodbridge Avenue, Sewaren, NJ 07077 in Mrs. Mitch's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
