Obituary

Dorothy Viola Loniak passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Care one at the Highlands Nursing Center in Edison.  She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Loniak was born in Newark on February 21, 1930 in and has resided in Carteret for the past 65 years. She received the Loving Cup after being named Most Beautiful Baby in Newark for 1931.

Dorothy was employed a Secretary with the Carteret Board of Education for 20 years before retiring in 1983.

She was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge and volunteered at Saint James Food Pantry. She was a member of the Woodbridge A.A.R.P.; and was a talented crafter as well as mastering the art of stained glass with many creations to show for it.

Mrs. Loniak was predeceased by her husband, Henry S. Loniak, in 2004; and parents, Michael and Mary Gorrie Wargo.

Surviving are her children, Cynthia Perlman and her husband, David, of Woodbridge, Dennis M. Loniak of Bedminster and Judith P Loniak of Asheville, NC; sister, Eleanor Lubas, of Woodbridge; brother, Michael Wargo, of Wernersville, PA; and grandchild, Jesse Perlman.

A Mass of Resurrection will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Following services the family wishes to invite all friends and relatives to Dominic's restaurant, 453 Avenel Street, Avenel to share food and fellowship.
