Donald Gilligan passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 68 years old. Born in Elizabeth, he was a lifelong resident of Avenel. Mr. Gilligan received his Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and was employed as an accountant with Elizabethtown Gas Company in Union for several years prior to his retirement; and had previously been employed in the same capacity with Siemens Corporation as well as Johnson and Johnson Corporation. He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of T. Nulty Post 471, American Legion in Iselin. Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years, Carolyn Seddon Gilligan; two daughters, Courtney Kost and her husband, Jason, of Fords and Lindsey Brooks and her husband, Casey, of Sewaren; two grandchildren, Jake Kost and Aubrey Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ.
