Derick Rodell Chapman of Sayreville passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Trinitas Hospice in Elizabeth. He was 66 years old. Born in Newark, NJ; He resided in Sayreville since 2000. Mr. Chapman was a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor with Trinitas Regional for 22 years retiring in 2012. He was a Friend of Bill W. and was very active in the Chapters across the New Jersey where he often greeted people with a welcoming and engaging "hey now". He was predeceased by his parents Jack Jordan and Lillian Thorton. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Linda Barany Chapman; his children Darnell Dance of Roselle, Christian Coughlin of Manalapan, and Rebecca Coughlin of Sayreville; two brothers Wendell Thorton, and Tyrone Thorton; five grandchildren who he was known to as "Pops" Damon Lee, Darnell Dance, Michael, Drahos, Xavier Drahos, and Zackery Drahos. Funeral will take place Saturday, November 21, 2015 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.Costello-greiner.com) 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge a 10:00 a.m. funeral service will take place at The First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
