Dennis W. O'Connell passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. He was 73 years old.

Born in Jersey City, he was raised in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township before moving to Avenel 44 years ago.

He was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Post Office in Iselin for 35 years before retiring in 2002; and was then employed as a mail clerk with   Chase Bank in their Iselin office for 10 years until retiring in 2012.

Mr. O'Connell was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War; and a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marie Scorski O'Connell.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Theresa "Teasy" Jackson O'Connell; daughter, Kerry Blaze and her husband, Brent, of Metuchen; son, Brian O'Connell, and his wife, Jacqueline, of Hazlet; sisters, Diane Vargas of Fords and Janet O'Connell of Iselin; and beloved grandchildren, Sean, Jackson, and Riley.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home 399 Avenel Street, Avenel.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint. Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Visiting hours will be Monday, February 21, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
