Dennis Leonard Hrebella passed away peacefully at Ashbrook Nursing Home in Scotch Plains under the excellent care of Compassionate Care Hospice on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Born in Elizabeth on August 18, 1955 to the late Edmund and Rose Nyanko Hrebella, Dennis was a lifelong resident of E 5th Ave, Port Reading NJ.

He graduated from Woodbridge High School and worked full time for 40 years. He had three long term positions but his favorite job was ShopRite in Flemington NJ. He really enjoyed being a part of the staff and interacting with customers. Like all Nyankos, he had a strong work ethic and always gave his very best.

Dennis had several real challenges but in general had a good, full life and was happy to be a part of his community. Family, friends, video games and a good meal made the list of his favorite things. Thanks to his friends, he learned how to ski and went to NYC restaurants on many occasions. He loved hanging out at Joe and Ellen's house and going out with John. He went to Disney with his brother Andy's family and was devoted to his nephews, Johnny and Mikey. He enjoyed visiting his sister Cindy and her kids, Josh and Marissa, and was happy to meet their family pet, a horse.

The highlights of his year included the annual Tully/O'Grady family reunion at the track, Christmas Eve at Patricia's house and celebrating the Three Kings with Margaret Rose. He looked forward to all family events and enjoyed every minute. Dennis lived with his parents until they passed, then lived with Andy and his family. He is no doubt enjoying Jeopardy in Heaven with his parents.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
