Dennis John Gomes of Carteret passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his daughter's home in Roselle. He was 74 years old.
Born in Georgetown, Guyana on June 2, 1942 to Edward and Angela Gomes, he was brother to Julian, John, Norma and Shirley. He was married to the late Rosalyn and had four children, Norma, Elizabeth, Roseann and Carmalitta. Then he married Marisol Ciezza and had three children, Angela, Bertila and Dennis, Jr. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Jalè, Samantha, Nicole, Ryan, Tyreak, Cassandra, Noemi, William, Jovanni, Dennis III and Savannah.
Dennis was a businessman in Guyana who was well known in Stabroek Market. He owned a stall next to his mom. He was also known for being a domino champion and his love of dancing and music. The people of Carteret knew Dennis as "Lover Boy", the words from the back of all the cars and taxis he drove.
He loved banana splits, CNN and was a charming man; all his nurses were crazy about him.
His last words were "I love all of my children and grandchildren the same".
Funeral services will take on place Friday, March 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street, at Barron Avenue, in Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
