Kalambakas
January 13, 1932 — February 13, 2017
Demetrius Kalambakas peacefully passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison at the age of 85 years old.
Born in Litohoro, Greece, he has resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township since 1964.
Mr. Kalambakas proudly owned and operated the Edison Diner since 1972 before passing the business to his eldest son in 2012 . He was a faithful member of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Demetra Kounadis Kalambakas; his children, Evan Kalambakas of Old Bridge, Stacey Kalambakas of Randolph, and Spero Kalambakas of North Brunswick; and two grandchildren. He was a kind and generous man who loved his family. His kindness and grace had touched the lives of many and he will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be on February 20, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home , 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Sadowski Parkway, Perth Amboy at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 41 Wisteria St., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
