Obituary

Claire Joan DiGaudio passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville. She was 83 years old.

Born on December 17, 1942, in Newark to the late Vincent and Ruth DiGaudio, she was a longtime resident of Somerset.

Claire built a successful career as a Human Resource Manager for AT&T in Piscataway, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring. She was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and the genuine care she showed for the people she worked with.

Above all else, Claire was a devoted and supportive mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was always ready with encouragement, guidance, and love.

Claire had a deep appreciation for the ocean and some of her happiest moments were spent near the water. She enjoyed time at the beach, sailing, and relaxing by the shore. She also cherished time with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Furgason Jr.; her son, Vincent Cronheim; and her siblings Anthony DiGaudio, Robert DiGaudio, Betty Vitanzo, and James DiGaudio.

Surviving Claire are her children Bruce Cronheim and his wife Leslie, Karen Paul and her husband Frank, step-daughter Maija Johnson and her husband Darryl, and step-son Aaron Furgason and his wife Kelly; her brothers Frank DiGaudio and William DiGaudio; her grandchildren Corinne, Camrin, Rayna, Jack, Vincent, Emma, Meghan, Caelan, Emerson, and Michaela; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Claire will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and the deep love she had for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and devotion that will continue through all who knew and loved her.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Cremation will be private.
