Charlotte "Cha-Cha" Gavin died on Saturday, October 18, 2014, in The Hideout, Lake Ariel, PA. Her son, Bert, was with her. She was a member of the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps and attended Jersey City Medical Center Nursing School, where she became a registered nurse. Although being a mother was her favorite job, she had a career as an occupational health nurse at Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway. She retired after 15 years and continued on as a volunteer at the NJ Division of Aging. She married Francis Joseph Gavin of Jersey City, who predeceased her. They had 7 children, Kathleen Gavin of Somerset, Judith Gerity of Taylorsville, MI; Frank Gavin of The Villages, FL, Timothy Gavin of Carteret, Margaret Gavin of Nutley, Barbara Sheridan of Toms River and Bertrand Gavin of Fords. She also leaves behind her daughter-in- law, Mary Gavin and son-in-laws, Thomas Sheridan and William Gerity; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their extended families. All will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.Costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
