Catherine L. Whitaker passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 90 years old. Born in Jersey City, she resided in the Menlo Park section of Woodbridge Township for many years. Mrs. Whitaker was employed as a secretary with Supermarkets General in Avenel for 15 years before retiring in 1985; and was a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Iselin. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Whitaker, in 2013; and a brother, Fred Stierli. Surviving are two sons, David R. Whitaker and his wife, Cookie, of Monroe and W. Bruce Whitaker and his wife, Karen, of Iselin; a sister, Evelyn Cullity, of Toms River; and two grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Melody, and Kathryn Whitaker. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 18, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church, Iselin. Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
