Catherine "Carolyn" Metzler (nee Wheeler), passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center, in Edison.  She was 75 years old.

Born in Jersey City, she has resided in Carteret for 50 years.

Mrs. Metzler was employed as a secretary for AT&T Corporation in New York City for many years and later worked in the same capacity at Midlantic National Bank in Edison prior to retiring.

She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Parish in Carteret.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, William H. and Johanna Wheeler (nee O'Neill); and her brother, William Wheeler.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 50 years, William F. Metzler; her daughter Denise Marks and her sons Daniel and William of Parlin; her son Thomas Metzler and his wife Leslie, and their children Matthew and Maya of Madison; and her daughter Doreen Dobbs and her husband William of Hoboken. Carolyn was joyously awaiting the birth of Doreen and William's son, William Francis Dobbs, her fifth grandchild.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home , 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Carteret.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.  Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 2 from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
