Carolyn J. Lerro of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 74 years old. Born in the Bronx, NY, she has resided in Port Reading since 1964. Mrs. Lerro was employed as a healthcare associate at Bellvue Hospital in New York City for 23 years before her retirement in 2000. She was a devoted communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading, where she belonged to the Altar-Rosary Society and served as a bingo volunteer. She also was a member and past secretary for the Port Reading-Sewaren Senior Citizens and volunteered at Trinity Church soup kitchen and the Sewaren Public Library. Mrs. Lerro is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Lerro; a son, Michael Lerro, of Port Reading and two grandsons, Matthew and Marc Lerro, both of Port Reading; and had served as foster mother to many children while she was raising her own son. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
