Carmen Thorstenson passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to the late Consuelo and Julio Sanchez, she has resided in Woodbridge for the past 30 years.

Carmen was employed as a salesperson with Macy's Department Store for over 50 years before her retirement in 2020.

Mrs. Thorstenson was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge; and enjoyed spending time at the Evergreen Senior Center in Colonia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Thorstenson, in 2002; sister, Rose Deegan; and brother, Michael Sanchez.

Surviving are her loving children, Lisa Thorstenson of East Brunswick and Kenneth Thorstenson and his wife, Linda, of Colonia; sister, Laura Aloisio, of Tampa, FL; and beloved grandsons, Kenneth Thorstenson III and Erik Thorstenson.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street Barron Avenue in Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Mrs. Thorstenson's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
