I t is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Carmen Iris Andujar De Jesus. She passed away on June 10, 2022, at 2:21 pm at the Care One at the Highlands Nursing Home in Edison, New Jersey.
Carmen was 72 years of age. She was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on January 13, 1950. She resided in Coco Beach, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico before moving to Rahway, New Jersey 6 months ago.
Carmen was a store manager for Chase Cleaners in Freeport, Long Island for many years. She was a Seamstress and a Tailor.
She was predeceased by her parents Damaso and Emelina Andujar and 2 brothers Freddy and Antonio and 2 sisters Mary and Antonia.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Alejandro J Alicea and his wife Nicole of Buffalo, NY and Harris M Zambrana and his wife Helene of Rahway, NJ. Her 8 grandchildren: Ryan Millan, Jessica Zambrana, Xavier Zambrana, Christian Zambrana, Amanda Zambrana, Daniel Alicea, Jacqueline Alicea, Taylor Zambrana. Her 2 godchildren: Justin A Millan and Kiara M Medina and her surviving 6 brothers and 9 sisters, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many many friends.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Iris had a passion for crafting and cooking. Iris had a bright and energetic personality and was known for ability to sense when people needed help. She loved spending time with her church groups where she taught others how to crochet and knit. She loved planting and taking care of flowers. She absolutely adored her best friend and loyal companion Ginger who passed away in early December 2021.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. In Rahway and Puerto Rico.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Care One at the Highlands Nursing home and Dr. Kumar's Office for their care and compassion. Funeral services were conducted privately under the care of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home in Woodbridge, NJ
