At home and surrounded by his family, Carl Teschke, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on November 7. Carl was born on November 30th, 1930 in Irvington, NJ to the late Carl Teschke and Anna Kazmir. Carl grew up in Irvington, graduated from Irvington High School and then joined the Navy upon graduation. Carl served four years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. Once home, he became an ironworker, a job he loved and excelled at for over 20 years. In 1972, Carl formed Dependable Erection Service and provided ornamental iron service on job sites throughout New Jersey and New York. Also in the early 70's, Carl felt he wanted to give back to the Lord for the many blessings he was given and opened the Just Jesus bookstore in Iselin.

Carl and Olga, his wife of 63 years, were blessed with three daughters and nine grandchildren. The family lived in Colonia for 30 years and spent wonderful times water-skiing on Lake Hopatcong, vacationing at Lake Wentworth in New Hampshire and Lake George in New York. In their golden years, Carl and Olga traveled to England, Austria, and Germany and throughout the United States.

Carl loved the Lord and had a heart for helping others in the community, never missing an opportunity to lend a hand. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, but loved bowling, and belonged to two leagues-bowling right up to the end. He loved being the oldest bowler on the lanes.

Carl is survived by his wife Olga; his daughters Deborah (Ed), Margaret (Jim), and Patricia (Bob); and his grandchildren Lindsey, Edward, Christopher (Lauren), Christina, Beth (Jon), Douglas, Diana (Phil), James and Meredith. He is also survived by his siblings Judith and Steven Janson. He is predeceased by his siblings, Marion Rich, Patricia Storey, Harold Janson and Mary Janson.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home , 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
