Carl L. Manaker, Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 84 years old.
Born in Rahway, he resided in Woodbridge Township for most of his life before moving to Hyde Park, NY and in 2010 to Highland, NY.
Mr. Manaker was a graduate of Woodbridge High School class of 1952 and Rutgers University class of 1956 and served in the United States Army. He worked as a civil engineer for 45 years until his retirement in 2001. Carl worked for a number of companies during his career including Hess Brothers Company, Edwards and Kelcey, Goodkind and O'Dea, and was a consultant for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and served as Eucharistic Minister at Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge and Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Hyde Park, NY. He belonged to Saint Andrew Council #5088, Knights of Columbus, Avenel and was a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Mr. Manaker was predeceased by his parents, Carl L. Manaker, Sr. and Mary Muhr Manaker.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth McDonald Manaker; daughter, Mary Catherine Manaker of New York City; brother, George, of Westchester, PA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
