Obituary

Byron V.R. Dunham, Jr. suddenly passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 84 years old.

He was born in, and a lifelong resident of, Woodbridge. He was also a resident of Tequesta, Florida.

Byron was a graduate of Woodbridge High School class of 1952 where he lettered in baseball and basketball.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Byron's first dream was to own and operate a Stewart's Root Beer Drive-In. At the age 10, he started picking up trash in the lot of the Stewart's in Woodbridge which led to his next job as a carhop. Through hard work and many sacrifices, Byron and his wife Nancy were able to realize that dream. Over the years, they were fortunate enough to build and operate several more Stewarts in Central N.J. Providing for his family however was always his primary motivation in life. He enjoyed the simple things; spending time with family, mowing the lawn, watching movies, sports, travelling and picking out the perfect Christmas tree each year. He was well known for his practical jokes. Byron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge.

He was predeceased by his parents, Byron V.R. Dunham, Sr. and Ellen C. Bensinger Dunham.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Nancy Younger Dunham; children, Lynn Dunham of Venice, FL, Bonnie Joel of Tampa, FL, Glenn Dunham and his wife, Dawn, of Brick, Scott Dunham of Orwigsburg, PA and Dale Dunham of Woodbridge; brother, Arthur Dunham and his wife, Ruth, of Chandler, TX; and grandchildren, Stephanie Terpanick, Nancy Joel, Brad Terpanick, Leah Joel, and Kaileigh Dunham.
