Dr. Bertin M. Louis, Sr. passed away at Staten Island University Hospital, North Campus. He was 79 years old.

Born in Port Margot, Haiti, he has resided in Staten Island, NY since 1975.

A dedicated physician, Dr. Louis served as a Nephrologist (kidney specialist) for over 50 years before his retirement in 2008, mostly at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Gerda Fougy Louis; a daughter, Benjie Louis, of Carle Place, NY; two sons, Bertin Louis, Jr. and his wife, Frances Henderson, of Maryville, TN and Gardy E. Louis of Staten Island, NY; a sister, Antonine Louis, of New Haven, CT; a brother, Alain Louis, of New Haven, CT; and two granddaughters, Nia Henderson-Louis and Jocelyn Henderson-Louis.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street (at Barron Avenue) in Woodbridge, New Jersey . Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
