Bernice Madsen of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at St. Josephs Nursing Center in Woodbridge. She was 83 years old. Born in Perth Amboy; she resided in Avenel most of her life. Ms. Madsen was a 1st and 2nd grade school teacher with The Woodbridge Township Board of Education for 50 years, retiring from The Indiana Avenel School #18 in Iselin in 2003. She was a member of The Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy. She enjoyed teaching children and caring for cats. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Cora Larsen Madsen. Funeral will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2013 10:30 a.m. at The Grace Lutheran Church 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.
