Barbara Sousa passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division. She was 88 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy on September 16, 1937 to the late Angela and Stephen Bednar, she resided in Woodbridge for many years before moving to Jackson 5 years ago.

She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School and was employed with JGT Management of Woodbridge, formerly of Perth Amboy, for over 60 years before retiring as Chief Financial Officer in 2019.

Barbara served on the Board of the New Jersey Institute of Disabilities for several years as well as assisting with other charitable foundations. She received several accolades for her service.

Barbara was known for her social nature and caring personality. She enjoyed reading, traveling, entertaining and gardening. She will be missed by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John A. Sousa, in 2018.

Surviving are her children, Judith Sousa, James Sousa and his companion, Gloria Fray, and Gregory Sousa; grandchildren, Rebecca Watkins Vargas, Anthony Watkins, Amber Sousa, Gregory Trek Sousa and Troy Sousa; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
