Arthur J. Notchey passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Monroe. He was 86 years old.
Born in Woodbridge; He was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township residing in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township for the past 57 years. After caring for his beloved wife Arlene until her passing, he agreed to move closer to his daughter Arlette's family. He quickly made friends at Brookdale, and was planning to become the consultant to the lead cook.
Mr. Notchey was a graduate of Woodbridge High School; He served in The United States Army during the Korean War, and was employed as a Lineman with New Jersey Bell for 40 years retiring in 1991. He never missed a day of work, and he walked to work during snowstorms.
He was a life member of the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge; a member of The Woodbridge Elks B.P.O.E #2116 and a dedicated supporter of The Woodbridge High School Football Team since his high school days when he was the marching band drum major.
Mr. Notchey was predeceased by his beautiful wife Arlene B. Dunch Notchey who passed away in 2018; his parents, John and Elizabeth Racz Notchey; and a beloved brother, John Notchey.
Surviving are his daughter, Arlette Brown and her husband, Barry, of West Windsor; his beloved grandson, Blake Brown; a nephew John Notchey, Jr.; and a loving extended family. Art was also token grandpa to the West Windsor Little League Travel team.
Art loved all dogs and cats. Lucky and Schnitzle will miss him bunches and hope Macallan, Missy, Foot Prince and all the Poopsies have already welcomed him.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church, 94 North James Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Arthur's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
