Ardyth "LaVern" Smith passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at her home in Edison. She was 83 years old.

Born in the Bronx, NY on June 24, 1939 to the late Mildred and Charles Jackson, she resided there before moving to Edison where she later raised and took care of her sister, Gail Green.

Ardyth was employed with AT&T Corporation in New York City prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed attending the Reformed Church of Highland Park and the sermons and friendship of Pastor Seth there; and was affiliated with the Edison Line Dancers, the Tri-County Line Dancers, the Red Hatter's, AARP of Edison, Edison Line Dance Club; and was a longtime volunteer at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

LaVern also enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, attending the senior center with her sister, Gail, during the holidays and dining out with friends, Bobby Lee and Debbie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Bruce Jackson and Charles Jackson.

Ms. Smith is survived by her sister, Gail Green.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Reformed Church of Highland Park. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
