Antonia "Toni" Anderson of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Bayside Manor Care Center in Keansburg, NJ. She was 87 years old. Born to Fedor & Angela Arlota in Dnjepropetrovsk, Ukraine; Raised Catholic, she was orphaned at a young age and survived several Concentration camps during World War II. After her liberation she resided in Frankfurt, Germany and married her husband Harold C. Anderson in 1952 while he was serving in the United States Army. They remained together until his death in 2002. After Germany they lived in Okinawa, Japan before moving to the United States in 1958, living in Brooklyn, Honolulu, Linden & Roselle before eventually settling in Avenel in 1968. Mrs. Anderson was employed in the Cafeteria at Colonia High School for more than 25 years retiring in 1993. She also worked at Barney's Deli in Avenel for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel and the Avenel Golden Circle Senior Citizens. Surviving are her son Kenneth Anderson and his partner Pamela Freund of Taos, New Mexico; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Thomas Curtis of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will take place Friday, October 17, 2014 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
