Obituary

Anthony Muccilli passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at his home in Woodbridge.  He was 92 years old.

Born in Hopelawn on June 13, 1932 to the late Saverio Muccilli and Maria Ciallella Muccilli, he was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township.

Mr. Muccilli was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, Class of 1950; and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 until 1954.

Anthony married the love of his life, Lynn Runkel Muccilli, in 1956. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006.

He was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge where he served as an Elder, a Deacon, and youth group leader. As a Deacon he visited homebound congregants, serving communion and praying with them. He loved his church family.

Mr. Muccilli worked as a diesel mechanic for NJ Transit, retiring in 1994 after 32 years. After retiring, Anthony volunteered with Meals On Wheels for many years.

Anthony was a self-taught pianist and a fan of Big Band music. He could not read music but he could rock a boogie-woogie tune.

He served as a leader with Boy Scout Troop 33 in Woodbridge while his sons were scouts; he also belonged to the American Legion for many years.

Anthony and Lynn loved to travel far and wide, whether flying to Hawaii or camping from the back of a pickup truck over the years, as well as spending many years camping in their trailer at Appalachian Campsites in Shartlesville, PA.

He was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and also loved to read. One of Anthony's favorite things was making sauce and gathering and hosting the family for spaghetti every week.

All of his grandchildren called him Pop Pop. He loved his late dog, Pepper, and his current dog, Zelda, very much.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lynn Runkel Muccilli, in 2010; sister, Mary Muccilli White; and brother, Carmine Muccilli.

He is survived by his sons, Keith Muccilli and his wife, Natalie, of South Carolina, and Jeff Muccilli and his wife, Maria, of Fords; and grandchildren, Francesca, Joseph Anthony, Benjamin, and Gabriel. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.  A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, 600 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge.
