Anthony V. Claps passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 88 years old.

He was born in New York City and has resided in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township for the past 53 years.

Mr. Claps was employed as a lift truck mechanic with General Motors Corporation in Linden for 29 years and was later affiliated with Caravan Products in Totowa before his retirement 4 years ago.

He was a United States Army veteran, a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Iselin and belonged to Middlesex Council 857, Knights of Columbus, Woodbridge and the United Auto Workers.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Quigley, in 1996.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Pearl Lillian Warner Claps; four daughters, Jo Ann Farinella and her husband, Charles, of Toms River, Karen Quigley of Woodbridge, Jacqueline Sepa and her husband, Steve, of Woodbridge and Toni Ann Hoffman and her husband, Scott, of Toms River; a sister, Sadie Claps, of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, Kristina Leonardelli, Jonathan Quigley, Anthony Farinella, Jennifer Spiecker, Monica Sepa, Steve Sepa, Andrew Hoffman and Nicholas Hoffman; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel.   A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Cecelia's Catholic. Church, Iselin. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
