Anne R. Hanks passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. She was 76 years old. Born in Staten Island, she has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for 56 years. Mrs. Hanks was employed as office manager with Maple-Vail Book Manufacturers in New York City for 25 years until retiring in 2004; and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Avenel Fire Company Number One. Mrs. Hanks is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter Hanks, Sr.; a daughter, Donna Prokop, of Rahway; a son, Walter Hanks, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Avenel; a sister, Virginia Ramer; a brother, Edward Volpe; and two grandchildren, Danielle and Kimberly Hanks. A Funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel St., Avenel, NJ 07001. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
