Ann M. Kelton passed away on January 5, 2019 in Sarasota, FL. She was 88 years old.

Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, she resided in Jersey City, NJ and Pocono Lake, PA before recently moving to Sarasota, FL.

Mrs. Kelton received her bachelor's degree in fine arts from Mt. Saint Vincent's College in Riverdale, NY and master's degree in both educational psychology and art from Fordham University in New York City. She then taught in public schools in Long Island before teaching at St. Paul's School in Jersey City, where she doubled as the school's vice principal for several years. While at St. Paul's, Ann was named as a finalist for the Teacher of the Year Award by the Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America committee in Washington, DC.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, James J. Kelton; sister, Mary Frances Naughton; son-in-law, Michael J. Kelleher, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Barbara E. Kelton.

Surviving are her children, James E. Kelton and his wife Donna M. of Bangor, PA, Theresa A. Kelton of Sarasota, FL and Michael J. Kelton of Avenel; grandchildren, Lisa, Shawn, Brian, Ian, Lawrence and Michael; and great grandchildren, Gavyn, Aurora and Kara.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation for family and friends be on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
