Alta Howard passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. She was 84 years old. Born in Tarrytown, NY, she resided in Woodbridge before moving to North Brunswick 9 years ago. Mrs. Howard owned and operated Howard Bus Company in Avenel for 25 years before retiring in 1982. She was predeceased by two sisters, Connie Manente and Pitzy Tatarka. Surviving are a daughter, Michele Sekul and her husband Michael, of North Brunswick; a son, John Howard, of Woodbridge; a sister, Helen Liso, of California; two grandchildren Donald O'Connor, Jr. of Manahawkin and Jennifer Post of Pennsylvania;and six great-grandchildren Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 7, 2013 11:00 a.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home , 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Hazel Wood Cemetery, Clark. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 am until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
