Alice M. Poko died on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 92 years old. Born in Tamaqua, PA, she has lived in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for the past 54 years. Mrs. Poko belonged to Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy. She was predeceased by her husband, George Poko, in 1987; and a son, George S. Poko, in 2010. Surviving are a son, Ken Poko, of Avenel; three grandchildren, Matthew, Jaimie and Stephen Poko; and a daughter in law, Lee Ann Poko, of Monroe. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy. Entombment will follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, Avenel. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Mrs. Poko's memory be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
