Alice Florence Storey Byoris passed away peacefully in the company of her children on Monday, September 1, 2024 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in Edison. She was 96 years old.

A lifelong resident of Woodbridge, she was born on December 4, 1927 at the home of her parents, James and Esther Washburn Storey, on the corner of Main and Fulton Street.

Alice graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1945 and started her work career at Seaboard Refractories, Edison after finishing Drakes Business School.  It is at Seaboard where she met her husband John F. Byoris and married in May of 1949.

Her work career continued for many years as a freight expeditor with Seaboard Refractories, Friedman Motor Freight and Herman Forwarding then retiring from Linden Motor Freight in 1995.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Woodbridge where she attended Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of St. Anne's Unit.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, John F. Byoris in 1982; brothers, James Storey and George Washburn; sisters, Martha Webb and Margaret Shaffer; niece, Dorothy Washburn; and nephew, George E. Washburn.

Surviving are her children, Kathleen Byoris Herzog and her husband, Ronald, of East Windsor and Thomas J. Byoris and his wife, Donna, of Colonia; grandchildren, Christian, Timothy, Lindsay, Jennifer, Kristy and Jill; and great grandchildren, Cassidy, Carson, Finley, Paul, Kylie, Donald , Thomas John(TJ) and Maverick; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We give thanks to all who cared for mom and are grateful for all who have touched her life and ours.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Requiem will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Trinity Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
