Albert J. Shakarian, Sr. passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.  He was 97 years old.

Born on August 6, 1924 in Springfield, MA, he resided in Kearny before moving to Woodbridge in 1962.

Mr. Shakarian owned and operated Star Auto Body in Kearny for many years before retiring in 1989; and was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine B. Shakarian, in 2017; son, Thomas, in 2021; and granddaughter, Abigail, in 2014.

Surviving are his children, Barbara and Albert, Jr.; a daughter-in-law Lorill; grandchildren, Joshua and his wife, Sarah, Jeffrey and his wife, Preslee, and Grace and her husband, Iheanyi; and great grandchildren Kayleigh, Melody, Shelby and Mayella. Albert was also blessed with a loving extended family and many friends.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will take place on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
